Back in the spring I was asked to do a series of 15 illustrations of people native to the Nunavik area of northern Quebec for a Montréal-based publication, Revue Zinc. The illustrations are a collection of people in traditional dress, and doing traditional sports and games.
This was one of the more difficult, but also one of my favourite, jobs I've ever done. I wanted to make sure that the people I was depicting were painted accurately and that I wasn't confusing the traditions of this particular area with those of another indigenous group.
